The Department of Actuarial Studies delivers several undergraduate degrees in actuarial studies including double degrees combining the subjects of actuarial studies and applied finance, economics, econometrics, computing, law, mathematics, statistics and accounting.

Actuarial studies subjects can be studied in a range of different programs at Macquarie University. Actuarial studies subjects include: Techniques and elements of finance; mathematics of finance; actuarial modelling; combinatorial probability; risk theory; survival models and quantitative methods for asset liability management.

Macquarie's actuarial studies program was the first actuarial studies program in the English speaking world to be accredited by a professional body and is the longest running program in Australia. Many students studying actuarial studies are seeking to become accredited as a qualified actuary by the Institute of Actuaries of Australia. The Institute defines a three part examination process and runs an annual Professionalism course to provide accreditation.

Outstanding undergraduate students in all programs can undertake an honours degree which provides the opportunity to undertake original research and strengthen their knowledge in a specific area of interest within the field of actuarial studies.
